OK, you try to make lathe belting look
"sexy". This is absolutely the finest late belting
available in the world. It is made in Switzerland. I have it
available in three sizes (2mm for pivot grinding attachments, 3 mm for
milling attachments and 4 mm for headstock and countershaft).
The 2 mm is flexible enough to allow absolutely free movement of
the pivot grinding (polishing) attachment while also providing efficient
power transmission.
The 4mm belting provides enough "grip" to drive the
headstock in low speed, high torque applications while not
requiring you to tighten the belt so tight that bearings get damaged.
There are no "belt connectors" to fool with, and the
belting does not stretch or "whip" as do the other types of
belting. The ends are joined by starting them to melt with heat
(over an alcohol lamp). You
wind up with a "mushroom" of plastic at the joint which you
then trim with a razor blade. It is very easy to create a joint
which is almost undetectable and is very smooth over the pulleys.
This is sold in 5 foot lengths at:
2mm
$5 per length
3 and 4mm $6 per length
These prices include postage in the continental US.
